In case you missed the program, here’s the podcast so you can listen!

Well, what can I say. What an awesome show…bittersweet really. To deal with such an alarming and horrific topic as sex trafficking and learn from Kathi Macias how huge the numbers are right here in the United States, to an inspirational visit with Cindy Godwin who shared not only about the Chosen to Grow women’s conference coming up this next weekend, but also how they are collecting new clothes, new shoes, makeup, and other items for the All Things New safe house located right here in San Antonio where girls who have been rescued from sex trafficking are being healed and restored. I’ll be at the Chosen to Grow Conference next weekend so hope to meet you there!

I’m delighted to be able to bring onto the show my author friend Kathi Macias, to talk specifically about the Sex Trafficking Epidemic. Kathi is a multi-award winning writer who has authored nearly 40 books and ghostwritten several others. A former newspaper columnist and string reporter, Kathi has taught creative and business writing in various venues and has been a guest on many radio and television programs. Kathi is a popular speaker at churches, women’s clubs and retreats, and writers’ conferences. She won the 2008 Member of the Year award from AWSA (Advanced Writers and Speakers Association) and was the 2011 Author of the Year from Her novel set in China, Red Ink, was named Golden Scrolls 2011 Novel of the Year and was also a Carol Award Finalist; her October 2012 release, Unexpected Christmas Hero, was named 2012 Book of the Year by Kathi “Easy Writer” Macias lives in Homeland, CA, with her husband.

Kathi has written the Freedom Series trilogy, true to life stories dealing specifically with human trafficking as it happens right here in the United States of America. We will be talking with Kathi about book one of that series, “Deliver Me from Evil,” and the magnitude of the problem many women are unaware of.

During the second half of the show, I’ll have in the studio with me, Cindy Godwin. Cindy is the hostess of Chosen. She is a true inspirer who passionately cares about people. Her heart’s desire is for people of all ages, races, genders and backgrounds to discover who they are in Christ and know they are chosen to be part of God’s awesome plan. Cindy is married to Rick Godwin, pastor of Summit Christian Center in San Antonio. They are exceptionally blessed to have two grown daughters, a wonderful son-in-law and two precious grandchildren.

The Chosen to Grow Conference for women is coming up on Sept. 27 and 28 at the Summit Christian Center and funds raised from the event are going to support All Things New, a safe haven for women escaping sex trafficking.

I’ll be continuing the conversation at El Jarro’s with Lorna Stafford, the Chosen to Grow Conference Media Manager…join us after the show at 12:30 for a no host lunch!
